\nJutka Terris, CPDT-KA<\/p>\n

Jutka (yoot-ka) Terris<\/strong> trained her first German Shepherd Dog at age 11 in her native Hungary.\u00a0 Today Jutka is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed by CCPDT,<\/strong> the only organization that actually tests and certifies dog trainers and screens them for using positive methods only.\u00a0 Jutka is also an approved trainer for the American Kennel Club\u2019s S.T.A.R. Puppy Program <\/strong>and a certified evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen<\/strong> Test, AKC Community Canine Test, AKC Urban CGC,<\/strong> and AKC Trick Dog<\/strong>,\u00a0 She also does temperament tests for Therapy Pets Unlimited<\/strong>. \u00a0Jutka trained her late Search-and-Rescue<\/strong> K9, Juno, and was deployed with her on numerous occasions to find missing people. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Since launching her company PuppyK in 2013, Jutka has helped thousands of people get off to the best start with their puppies in her small group AKC STAR Puppy classes as well as via private, in-home instruction.\u00a0 Many of those puppies have gone on to earn their CGC certificate, pursue agility and other dog sports, and several have even gone on to become therapy, emotional support\u00a0and service dogs! In all her interactions with dogs (and owners!) Jutka uses positive, motivational methods<\/strong>, and relies on her trademark empathy<\/strong> and humor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“My training style is motivational, positive training. I know the science behind dog training, and I use positive science-based methods, while also being flexible, a creative problem solver, compassionate and in tune with both dog and owner. I believe that each dog is unique and am always open to adjusting my approach. I persist until I find a solution that works, the dog\/owner bond is strengthened and problems are solved, or, better yet, prevented. My clients often ask me why their dogs love me so much. I jokingly reply that my warm personality is irresistible…or that the pooches can feel just how much I love THEM!\u00a0 What I actually believe is that dogs appreciate the clarity I provide for them, and that I reap the benefits of their positive association between me and the fun, motivational training sessions. Sherri started her agility training in 2002, attending seminars with top agility competitors and classes. She started competing with Cleo, her first border collie, in 2003. Cleo earned two Master Agility Championship titles, the top agility award. Sherri started teaching agility in 2004. Her agility dogs have all competed at Masters level, the top competition level. She loves training her dogs all sorts of tricks. Sherri is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.<\/div>\n
